Cancelled Perth Really: Stop the Massacre in Rafah Now

Assalamualaikum dear community,

Unfortunately, we have received disappointing news from the city of Gosnells regarding our planned protest. Despite obtaining a permit from the police, the city of Gosnells has informed us that they do not approve of our event. They have clarified that Sutherlands Park, where we intended to hold the protest, is not considered public or Crown land and is owned by them.

We believe that one of the contributing factors to this situation is the lack of consultation between the police and the city of Gosnells. While protests are common in Perth and Fremantle, they are unheard of in the city of Gosnells. It appears that the police overlooked the importance of consulting with the council before granting us the permit.

Although we could have proceeded with the protest and potentially faced trespassing infringements, we have made the difficult decision not to proceed. Our intention is to maintain positive relationships with the city of Gosnells and preserve the potential for future events by not burning our bridges.

In light of this situation, we are currently arranging a meeting with the CEO of the Gosnells City Council to discuss our concerns and explore possibilities for future endeavours.

We understand the disappointment and frustration caused by this technicality. However, we remain committed to our cause and will continue to explore alternative avenues to advocate for our message.
