Imran's body was flown from Adelaide to Perth yesterday and brought to the Mirrabooka Mosque in the city's northern suburbs.
Following the regular Friday lunchtime prayers today, Imran's body was brought into the mosque prayer room where the imam recited traditional funeral prayers as several hundred mourners from the family's Bosnian Australian Muslim community and friends listened on.
Imran's mother, Mirsada Halilovic, watched the service from a gallery above the prayer room.
Her son's body was then taken to Perth's Karrakatta cemetery for burial later today.
Imran's father Aliya Zilic was charged with murder after the boy's body was found earlier this month in a seven-metre-deep mine shaft, 47km south of Coober Pedy.
Zilic, 32, is accused of killing his son near the opal mining town some time between April 21 and April 24.
He was extradited from Perth to Adelaide on May 14 and has been remanded in custody at a psychiatric facility while he awaits a court hearing on August 1.
The boy had been taken by his father on a two-day custody visit from his mother's Perth home on April 20.
Zilic was found in Kununurra, in Western Australia's far north, on May 1 and was held in Perth's Graylands Hospital until his extradition.
